We, the family of Dorothy Harrietha, sadly announce her passing on Saturday, Oct.8, 2016, at the Cove Guest Home, Sydney. Born in Sydney Mines on April 3, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Ann (Johnston) Peddle. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She always enjoyed shopping, Bingo, bowling , and darts. In her later years, she resided at Miner’s Memorial Manor & Cove Guest Home where she enjoyed many hours of dining out and shopping with her girls Lorna and Heather, granddaughter Kira and great grandchildren Quintin, Paiton and great-great grandson Colten.
Left behind to mourn are Dorothy’s seven children; Debbie (Peter)Mac Donald, Guelph ,Ont., Mary-Lou Harrietha Guelph ,Ont., Lorna Capstick, Sydney Mines, Danny (Mary)Harrietha, Sydney Mines, Heather(Leo) Bungay, Alder Point, Vince (Sherry) Harrietha ,Fort Mc Murray, and Shane (Michelle) Harrietha, Cambridge ,Ont., brothers Arma Peddle, St. Pete’s, Florida ,John (Glenda)Peddle, North Sydney, and Bill Johnston, Ontario, 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband Alex, brothers Robert and Tom, and sister Lorna.
A memorial mass celebrating Dorothy’s life will be held Thursday, October 13, 2016, at 10am at Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr Jim Oliver officiating. A reception will follow in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s society or a local charity of choice.
