It is with heavy hearts that the family of Dorothy May Emma
(Kaye) Burnett announces her passing which occurred at the Saint John
Regional Hospital on Wednesday, October 4, 2017. Born on January 2,
1942, she was the wife of the late Donald Burnett and a daughter of
the late Horace and Margaret (Marr) Kaye.
Dorothy was an avid bowler, playing in the Alpine league. She
also enjoyed playing darts at the Legion Branch #69 and dancing. She
spent many days camping at Pine Cone Campground for 22
years.
Dorothy is survived by her sons Gary Porter (Heather),
Patrick Porter (Charlotte), Michael Porter (Karen), and Kevin Porter;
daughters Diane Hayes (Doug), Marilyn Merrill, Catherine Cole (Jack),
and Cindy Cobhan; sister Shirley Richard; as well as many
grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Aside from her husband and parents, she was predeceased by
her first husband, Howard Porter; brothers George and Horace JR Kaye;
daughter Michelle Porter; sisters Joan Barker and Betty Marr; and
grandson Scott Merrill.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111
Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation
on Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8PM and Monday,
October 9, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8PM. A funeral service will be
held in the Brenan’s Chapel on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at
11:00 AM. Interment to follow in Oceanview Memorial Gardens. For those
who wish, remembrances may be made to the Heart & Stroke
Foundation, Bobby’s Hospice, or a charity of the
donor’s choice.
