Nix, Dorothy Emma
« Dot », 87, of Bible Hill,
passed away peacefully Monday, October 16, 2017 at Vimy Court in Bible
Hill. Born in Bible Hill, she was a daughter of the late John and
Gladys (Fielding) Langille. Dot loved her family and was a devoted
wife, and loving mother, and grandmother. As a girl she spent long
hours roaming the river bank with her dog. She loved fishing with her
father and uncles. She also had a love of reading, especially in her
older years. She attended Business College after high school. She
worked at Grey’s Shoe Store, Margolians, and was also a
night dispatcher for Wilsons Fuel. She married her husband and had a
child and became a full time mom. Dot, as known to her friends, loved
her motorbike trips with Gardner. They belonged to the Campers Club
and enjoyed many years camping, and travelling especially to
Shelburne. She was an active member of the Saint David’s
United Church Bible Hill, until she suffered a stroke in 1977. In her
later years after the death of her husband, she especially looked
forward to weekends away with her granddaughter Christie, and a few
close friends, Michelle, and Dianne. Dorothy was an only child. She is
survived by her daughter, Cathy Nix (Kevin Cox); grandchildren,
Christie and Kevin; great-grandson, Kevin Dominic. She was predeceased
by her husband, Gardner Nix. Visitation will be held 12:45 pm
– 1:45 pm, followed by funeral service at 2 pm, Wednesday,
October 25, all in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young
Street Truro, with Rev. Donna Lawrence officiating. Interment to
follow in the Onslow Island Cemetery, Onslow. Special thanks to the
staff at Vimy Court, and a very special friend Hazel. In lieu of
flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of
