Donald E. Hopkins
1928-2016
The death of Donald Ernest
Hopkins, 88, of Sackville, and formerly of Saint John,
occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, November 23,
2016. Born in Saint John, Don was a son of the late Ernest
and Jean (Babcock) Hopkins.
Don was a prominent business
owner and operator of Barnes-Hopkins Printing Company In Saint
John. He was a former member of the Gyro Club and heavily
involved with the YMCA and various community groups that contributed
to the well being of the town. After moving to Sackville, he
worked with the Sackville Tribune-Post until his
retirement.
Don was a wonderful father, grandfather,
great grandfather and friend who will be missed by all.
Don will be sadly missed by his
soul-mate, Marion Murray, Sackville; his children, Andrew (Barb),
Passekeag, NB and Robert (Janet), Quispamsis, NB; four grandchildren,
Jennifer (James), Sarah (Carlos), Christopher and Jeffrey (Shannon);
six great grandchildren, Max, Barett, Isaac, Jacob, Jaxon, and Emma;
one sister, Joan (Bob) Kee, ON and several nieces and
nephews.
Besides his parents, Don was predeceased
by his first wife, Florence (Davis), and a brother,
Robert.
Arrangements are under the care and
supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70
Bridge Street, Sackville. Don’s remains have be cremated and
a funeral service will take place from Brenan’s Funeral
Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, on Wednesday,
November 30, 2016 at 11 am with a reception to follow.
Interment will be held at the Fernhill Cemetery, Saint
John.
The family would like to express their
gratitude to the Doctors and staff of the Sackville Memorial Hospital
for their kindness and compassion while caring for Don.
