Kennedy, Dolly Breckon (nee Alderson)
Borne with considerable dignity, humour and surprisingly–affection, from the effects of dementia. Lifetime sweetheart of Bill (d. 2008). mother of Lynn, Sandra and Jim. Predeceased by her sister Isobel (& Bob) Rae, survived by her sister Joan Fellows (Bill) and sister in law Peggy Ivory. Dolly grew up in Roncesvalles, graduated from Central Commerce and lost both her father to the after effects of mustard gas poisoning (officially TB) and her dearest brother “Bobby”, an air gunner in the RCAF, at an early age. Dolly had a successful career both at Stelco prior to having a family and latterly at Smith Packaging as a YPA’er with Lorne and Dave. Mom and Dad travelled to places with air museums and enjoyed their retirement near Baysville after a lifetime of weekend work, where Dolly gardened, line danced and read avidly.
The girls would like to thank all the personal support workers over the decade or more who enabled Mom and Dad to stay at home, especially “Tina”. Heartfelt thanks to the team at Selectacare for never letting us down – Lea, Marissa, Carelon, Greg, Linda; the VON team; Dr. Varga; Dr. Louis Mavrogiannis (Dorothy Ley Hospice) who provided exemplary palliative care to both Mom and Dad. Our only sadness, now that both Mom and Dad are gone is that they were so undeserving of the endings they both endured.
A short service will be held at Scott’s, 420 Dundas Street East, Mississauga at 10 am on Monday, October 3rd. Private internment to follow. Dolly supported both the Salvation Army and Mount Sinai Hospital throughout her lifetime, for those who wish to remember her.
