Obituary
It is with a profound sense of loss & sadness, but with gratitude for a lifetime of special memories that Greg ( Sheila ), Gary ( Linda ), Marguerite, Michael & David ( Tannis) announce Dad’s peaceful passing on May 19.
He has reunited with his “dear wife” of 65 years Marie who predeceased him Oct. 2015.
He is also survived by 6 grandchildren Shawn ( Tegan), Kristy ( Zeek), Kevin, Shane, Cameron, Kelly, 1 great grandchild Rudy, sister-in-laws Bernadette Quilter, Pauline McNeil, Marg Mc Neil & numerous nieces & nephews.
First born to Martin & Kathleen O’Connor on Sept.18, 1924 in Rochester, AB. He was predeceased by 2 brothers & 1 sister.
During Dad’s life his contributions to local sports were many. These included serving as coach & parish manager for St. John’s Minor hockey, President of the Old Timer’s Baseball Association & a life long member of the Royal Glenora Club.
Dad had a huge heart filled with love, a spirit of generosity & a wonderful sense of humour that he maintained to the end. His passion for sports, especially baseball & tennis, & his love of the family Pekingese dogs was exceeded only by his devotion to his faith & family.
A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Connelly-McKinley St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert, Alberta. A Celebration of Dad’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 25, 2017 at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church, 9830-148 Street, Edmonton, Alberta.
The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Alan McDonald & all the staff at the Citadel Care Centre, Dr. Strytveen, Dr. Randy Williams & Dr. Eric Estey for their exemplary care over the years.
