David Wayne Messem
1948-2017
David Wayne Messem – 69, of Port
Williams, Kings County, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017 in the
Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Wolfville, he was a son
of the late Gordon and Ethel (Grant) Messem. He had been employed with
C & M Ells, Laurie Layton and most recently, G. K. Morse for
35 years. He was a veteran of the Port Williams Volunteer Fire
Department and a member of the Kings County Citizens Patrol. David
loved to play cards and build Lego trucks with his grandchildren. He
is survived by his wife, Mary Lou (Dagley); a daughter Lisa Messem
(Mark Lynk), Port Williams; a son, David (Alicia), Kentville; three
sisters, Audrey (Stewart) Griffin, Port Williams; Sharon Hubley,
Bridgetown; Ruth Arenburg, Port Williams; a brother, James (Pat),
Greenwich; six grandchildren, Selena, Hayden, and Tazz Lynk; Ethan,
Alexia and Thomas Messem; a great granddaughter, Brinley Hazel; many
nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Karen; a sister,
Shirley Lechance; a nephew, Christopher Arenburg. Visitation will be
held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.
Sunday, November 19, 2017 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville,
Reverend Elizabeth Johnson officiating. Burial will take place in the
Oak Grove Cemetery, Kentville. A reception will follow in the Port
Williams Volunteer Fire Department Hall. Donations in memory may be
made to the IWK Health Centre Foundation. Funeral arrangements have
been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation
Services, Kentville.
