D. Jean Glendenning
1930-2017
Miramichi – Dorothy Jean Glendenning, widow of the late Norman P. Glendenning, of the Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home and formerly of Little Branch Road, Black River Bridge, passed away at her residence on Monday, December 11, 2017, at the age of 87.
Born Point Aux Carr, on October 31, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Clara (MacDonald) Watling. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of St. Pauls Presbyterian Church, Black River Bridge. Jean’s heart & soul was her family, She loved being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. There were many family dinners in the Glendenning family kitchen with sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. She was a true homemaker and would sew and knit for her family. She loved gardening and every fall she made a variety of pickels. She also nurtured a lovely flower garden. She was the secretary for Branch View Farms for a number of years, in addition to serving as secretary for the AMS Presbyterian Womens’ Group for many years.
She is survived by two daughters, Eileen Glendenning, of Black River Bridge, Loisanne Gregan (Lynn) of Hardwicke; two sons, Alton Glendenning (Roberta) and Eric Glendenning (Jean), all of Black River Bridge; one son in law, Paul Morton, of Moncton; one sister, Geneva Sweezey, of Miramichi; four brothers, Robert, of Mississauga, Ont., Kenneth (Shirley), of Orillia, Ont., Winfield (Liz), of Woodstock. Ont and Osborne of Ontario; seven grandchildren, Kelly Morton, Danny Morton, Trevor Morton, Matthew Gregan, Christopher Gregan, Jarret Glendenning, Katie Sherrard; eight great grandchildren, Kyle, Grace, D.J., Tyler, Spencer, Jase, Rory, Lynken. She was predeceased by her husband, Norman, in 2014; one daughter, Judy Morton (2000); three sisters, Sadie McLenaghan, Ruby Taylor, Mary Glendenning; seven brothers, James, Lawrence, Cedric, Clarence, Ernest, George, John Watling.
Visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., on Thursday, from 1-3 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held from St. Pauls Presbyterian Church, Black River Bridge, on Friday, December 15, 2017, at 11 am, conducted by Rev. Ross Wiseman. Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery.
