Crabtree, Carol
2017-03-15
Carol Crabtree of Westville passed away on March 15, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital, Nova Scotia after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Maltby, Yorkshire England in 1951, she was the eldest daughter of the late Arthur and Sophia Trueman. Carol and her husband, John, lived in Perth, Western Australia for five years before moving to Canada in 1979. Carol worked as a tailor for many years before becoming a PCW. She then worked for Shiretown Nursing Home for 14 years before retiring in 2005. After retirement, Carol and her husband spent considerable time travelling to the Caribbean and to the UK.
Carol was an enthusiastic crafter and filled her home, and her children’s, with quilts that she handmade. She also knitted, made many of her own clothes, and enjoyed painting. Carol was a voracious reader and regularly read a book a day. She embraced technology and loved all the latest gadgets that came onto the market, much to her delight.
Carol will be forever missed by John, her husband of 46 years. She is also survived by her daughters Cher McAllister (Barry) of Fredericton, Sara Hubbard (Scott) of Dartmouth, and her grandchildren: Jacob, Katie, Bryden and Callie.
Cremation has taken place and by request there will be no service.
Donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital or to Ovarian Cancer Canada.
