February 1, 1932 – March 1, 2017
It is with deep sadness that we announce that Dane Corson of Cochrane passed away peacefully on March 1, 2017 at the Sarcee Hospice in Calgary.
Dane was born in Mankota, SK to John and Lillie Golfen. As a young lady, she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pincher Creek, AB where she met and married the love of her life, her ‘Mountie’ Jim. It is here that they welcomed their first child Brenda into their hearts. Moving often for Jim’s work in the RCMP, they lived in Fort Macleod, Blairmore, Edmonton, Bonnyville, Taber, and Calgary. Their second daughter Karen was welcomed while they lived in Edmonton. After retirement, Jim and Dane made their home in Cochrane, which they loved.
Dane loved being a homemaker staying home with her girls but was happy to return to work part time as a Teacher’s Aid when the girls were teenagers. She always loved working with children and this love carried over to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dane will be forever loved and remembered by her husband Jim; her daughters Brenda (Russell) Poffenroth of Cochrane and Karen (Paul) Millar of Calgary; her grandchildren, Dayne (Ariane) Poffenroth, Scott (Stacie) Poffenroth, and Samantha (Colton Craig) Millar; and her great-grandchildren, Kamryn, Evynn, Avery, and Corson. She is predeceased by her identical twin sister Lurraine; her brother George Golfen; and her parents John and Lillie Golfen.
A Celebration of Dane’s Life will take place at the Cochrane RancheHouse (101 Ranche House Rd, Cochrane, AB) on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wellspring Calgary Attn: Fund Development, 1404 Home Road NW,Calgary, AB T3G 1B7 www.wellspringcalgary.ca)
