Claude Chester Keeping
Keeping, Claude Chester, age 66, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 15, 2017 in the Dartmouth General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Claude was born in Ramea, NL and grew up in Port aux Basques, NL. While living in Newfoundland, Claude enjoyed hunting, fishing and entertaining his family and friends with his humour and love of music. He worked with Canadian National, and Jim Crewe Ltd building and maintaining arcade games. He moved to Dartmouth, NS in 1998. His passion was his family and he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He retired from Metro Transit in 2017.
He was predeceased by his parents, Maude (Harris) and Chester Keeping and parents in law, Pearl (Neil) and Edgar Sheaves.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Laura (Sheaves); daughter Andrea (Rene) AuCoin, Middle Sackville, NS, Claudia (Nigel) Turner, Hammonds Plains, NS; grandchildren, Hayley, and Brady AuCoin, Cole and Caroline Turner.
He is also survived by his siblings, Vera (Roger) Sheppard, Corner Brook, NL, Janet (Don) Dalton, Kippens, NL, Cecil (Susan), Calgary, AB, Betty (Paul) White, Noels Pond, NL, David (Brenda), Summerside, PE; brothers in law Don, Melvin, and Earl Sheaves, and sisters in law, Maisie Morris, Marilyn Lannon, and Linda Sheaves, along with many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Sunday November 19 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street Dartmouth. The funeral service will take place at 10am on Monday November 20th in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Kay Knott officiating. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow in the funeral home reception centre.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Psoriasis Society of Canada.
