Cecilia Anita Baccardax
1916-2017
BACCARDAX, Cecilia Anita – River
Bourgeois. It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful
passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt
at home in her daughter Sally’s loving care on Thursday, June 22,
2017, at the age of 100. Born in River Bourgeois on December 6, 1916,
she was a daughter of the late Marin « Murdoch » Fougere and
Sarah Anne (Boudreau) Fougere.
As a young woman she was employed
in Halifax. It was there that she married her husband of 40 years,
Tobie. They returned home to River Bourgeois and Cecilia’s original
family home with their first two children and their special nephew
Earl. Here they raised their family that would grow with the
addition of four more children. Cecilia was a devoted mother,
grandmother and great grandmother and through all these years she
remained strongly rooted and very much attached to her family and her
River Bourgeois community. The lives she touched are too many to
list.
She will be dearly missed by her
children, Faye (Roger) Flinn, Port Williams; Don (Jean), Grand Anse;
Sally, River Bourgeois; Lorne (Lenette), Hubbards; Peter (Sherry),
River Bourgeois and very special nephew, Earl Fougere, Detroit,
Michigan. She is also survived by her loving sister,
Margaret.
She will be greatly missed by her
grandchildren, Lisa, Kim, Craig, Jason, Wayland, Warren, Bridget,
Alexie, Shelley and Joseph and great grandchildren Matthew, Mitchell,
Cora, Andrew, CeeCee, Xavier, Ethan, Jasmine, Landon, Jack, Charlie,
Lily and Jonah. She also leaves to mourn nieces and nephews
and the extended family on her husband’s
side.
Besides her parents, she was
predeceased by her beloved husband, Tobie and daughter, Joan; sisters,
Sadie, Rita, Mary Helen and brothers, Abraham « Abram »,
Amable « Mabie », William « Billie », Charlie, John
and Herman.
Special thanks to Dr. Pluta for the
attentive care that he provided Cecilia over all these
years.
We will forever be grateful for our
time with her and she will always hold a special place in our
hearts.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9
p.m. on Sunday, June 25 in the River Bourgeois Visitation Parlour,
River Bourgeois. Funeral mass will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 26 from St.
John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, River Bourgeois with Father
Antolin Asor officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral
arrangements are under the care and direction of the Dennis Haverstock
