Bill Brooks
1923-2016
William Duncan Brooks died
peacefully at Ridgewood Veterans Wing, Saint John, NB on Sunday,
December 25, 2016 surrounded by loving caregivers. Bill was
born in Sussex on March 21, 1923, the son of the late Robert and Mary
(Charlton) Brooks.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Bill
served in the 2nd Field Company, Royal Canadian
Engineers for 5 Years. In 2015 he was awarded the rank of
Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honour, the highest
recognition for France to bestow, thanking and acknowledging him for
his part in liberating France during World War II. He was
predeceased by his brothers Donald, Charles and Booth as well as
sisters, Flossie, Mary, Irene and Marnie.

their warm and loving care of Bill for the last 6 years.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s
Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road,
Norton, NB. The funeral service conducted by Rev. John Martin will be
held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 11:00am from Ridgewood Veterans
Wing Chapel, with public visitation one hour prior to service time.
Interment will take place in the spring at Kirkhill Cemetery,
Sussex.
Donations in memory of Bill may be made to the Ridgewood
Veterans Wing or to the memorial of the donor’s choice.
