Obituary of Bette Ladd
Ladd, Mary Elizabeth (Bette) – of Blenheim.
It is with great sadness that the family share the news that Mary Elizabeth “Bette” died peacefully on Monday September 4th, 2017 after a brief but valiant battle with cancer, age 81. Sixty years ago, Bette married the love of her life Don Ladd and together they built a warm and loving family. Mom was an active member of the Blenheim community as a librarian, voracious reader and supporter of the library, an avid golfer who loved ladies day with her best friend Dawn Gawley and by her own description was an excellent card player.
Bette is survived by her loving husband Don, children Deb (Gerard), Karen (Kevin) and Steve (Denise). Beloved Nana to Scott (Hope), Amanda (Sean), McKenna and Grayson. Loving Great – Nana to Amelia, Macy and Kingsley. Sister to Howard (Fay) and Gord (Karen). Sister-in-law to the late Jack (late Gloria), Kay (late Ken), Joan (late Al), Mary (late Jack), late Frank (Jane and Geraldine), late Paul (late Diane), Barb (Jim), and Margaret (Ivan).
Bette is also predeceased by her parents Howard and Mary (nee Foster) Tait.
Bette loved any holiday when as many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as possible would sit around the kitchen table and sample her wonderful baking. She lived a full and happy life. She will be missed and fondly remembered.
Special thanks to Jodee Pelletier, Dr. Martha Clendenning, Dr. Kulkarni and Dr. Pan and staffs, Ashley Hall and the staff of Village on the Ridge for your kindness and exceptional care of mom.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 141 Park St., Blenheim on Friday September 8, 2017 from 6-8pm. A Private Family Burial will be held in the Clinton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests, if you wish, to make donations to Chatham Kent Hospital Oncology Department or the Windsor Cancer Care Clinic radiation department. Mom loved sports her entire life. Next time you are cheering for an athlete or a team, raise a glass and think of mom.
