It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edy (Edda) Sartori Bertolino Weaver, on July 2, 2017 at the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence in Hudson, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. The precious wife and very best friend of Wayne Weaver, she also leaves to mourn her nieces, Isabella, Teresa, Cristina, Rachele, Paola, Sara, Natalie and Kelly. Nephews, Massimo, Michael (Wayne’s God Son), Giuseppe (Lilly), Davide, Ruben, Valter, Riccardo and her brother Bruno (Clara) in Italy. She was predeceased by her brothers Natale (Maria), Carlo (d. Idea), Mirko, sister Carla (d. Guido) and niece Marinella. Also left to mourn are her sisters-in-law Susan Weaver (Peter), Alice “She was like my little sister”(late Tom Weaver) and Helen (late Ken Weaver).
Edy was born in Villanzengo Italy and grew up in Biella in the north of Italy. She came to Canada 49 years ago with her late husband Ezio (Raymond) Bertolino (d. May 2002). She loved to golf at Summerlea Golf and Country Club where she was a member for 20 years until the onset of her illness started at the end of 2010. Edy had a very special gift. Although she was a very private person, she knew how to bring people together and make them feel comfortable.
A celebration of Edy’s life will be held at Fritz Community Centre, 20477 Lakeshore Road, Baie-D’Urfé (514-695-7979), Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 1-5 p.m. Prayers and eulogies at 2 p.m.
Our families will be forever grateful to the Oncology staff at the JGH and the palliative care facility for their incredible loving care and support.
