M. Bertella (Raworth) McIntyre It is with great sadness that the family of M. Bertella (Raworth) McIntyre announce her passing on Wednesday, July 13, 2016. Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Bertella was the eldest daughter of the late Willa E. Hunter, Peel (Stickney), New Brunswick and R. Eric Raworth, Port Elgin, New Brunswick. She became a Life Member of Mount Allison University Federated Alumni in 1972. Her Bachelor of Arts Degree included the early and rigorous Secretarial Course that required not only additional class time but also extended terms of study throughout the four year university programme. Bertella put her expertise and interest in this field to good use when employed at C.C. Raworth & Sons, as a part time Commercial teacher at St. Stephen High School and as a volunteer in numerous associations and organizations. A member of Beta Sigma Phi Gamma, Bertella also held membership and served as Education Secretary in the Atlantic Charter Chapter I.O.D.E. St. Stephen, New Brunswick and later in the former Mildred Bennett Chapter of Moncton. As well, she was a member of more than 55 years of the Canadian Federation of University Women. Her personal interests also included the environment, gardening, the night skies, opera, piano, travel and the weather. An avid reader, Bertella’s love of books was evident in her Children’s Literature and Library Studies post university course work. She was an enthusiastic volunteer at several school libraries, including St. Stephen and Hillsborough, and in 1983 was recognized for her contribution of more than 500 hours of service to the Riverview Public Library.
