LUSH, Bernard George
« Bernie » – Age 70, Pleasant Hill,
Inverness Co,. It is with great sadness that we announce the
passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle
and great friend, Bernard George « Bernie » Lush after a brief
and courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Born
in Sydney on February 14, 1947, he was the son of the late John and
Sarah (King) Lush.
Bernie was employed as a mechanic at Seaboard Tire where he
worked until his illness. He was also a volunteer fire fighter with
the Port Hawkesbury Fire Department. He loved to spend his summers
camping in Lake Ainslie, where he made life-long friends and enjoyed
campfires over a few Olands. He touched a lot of hearts with his
humor, quick wit and sarcastic remarks. He will be greatly missed by
those who were fortunate to have known him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Gloria Snow,
sons, Bernie (Jennifer), Port Hawkesbury, Vance (Pavlina), Langley, BC
and daughter, Cindy (Cary), Inverness; grandchildren, Andrew,
Nicholas, Tristan, Maegan, Rebecca and Sophia; brother, Jack (Joan),
sisters, Cecilia Oliver, Mary Breen, Delores Penny, Pauline (Bud)
Somers, Theresa Farrell, all of Sydney and Margie Bethune, Toronto;
sister-in-law, Elsie Lush; mother-in-law, Mary Snow, brother-in-law,
Kansas (Judy) Snow, numerous nieces and nephews. Bernie was
predeceased by his brother, Percy, sisters, Geraldine Stanwick and
Katherine Bartlett.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 10 from 3-6 pm in
the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville Street, Port
Hawkesbury. There will be no funeral service. Donations in
Bernie’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society
or Strait Richmond Palliative Care.
