Sadly, Barbara Margaret Ferguson died peacefully on July 26, 2016 after a courageous struggle with illness. Born in Ottawa in 1918, daughter of Ruby and Clarence Putman. Beloved wife of 54 years of Ian T. Ferguson and predeceased by John Crabtree. Survived by sister Ann Steacie (Richard), children Leslie Savage (David), Grant Crabtree (Terry) and J. Christopher Crabtree. Loving Grandmother to Michele Farrugia (David Dal Bello), Alexandra Farrugia (Chris MacDonald), Samuel and Carin-Ann Crabtree. Great-Grannie to Sebastian, Beatrice and Grace Dal Bello and Benjamin, William and Thomas MacDonald. An avid reader and prolific letter writer, Barbara shared with friends a love of home, of gardening, of birds and dogs, travel, food and wine. Barbara was awarded a medal for her work with British Intelligence in New York during WWII. She was a long-standing member of the IODE and worked for many years in the aeronautical library of Canada’s National Research Council. Barbara’s legacy is a private life well-lived with intelligence, wry humour, perseverance, loyalty and a great sense of fun. A private Memorial will follow cremation and interment at Beechwood Cemetery.
