1918-2016
ALDOUANE, NB – Arcade Fontaine, age 98 of Aldouane
passed away peacefully at the Veteran’s War Center, Moncton
on Sunday, August 14, 2016. Born in Aldouane, he was the son
of the late Jacques Fontaine and late Delima (Doucet)
Fontaine.
Arcade was a member of the Royal Canadian Army, serving
overseas during WWII. Before retiring, Arcade was employed
as a fisherman, a politician and fishery officer but most importantly
he volunteered countless hours building his community. He
was the president of the Aldouane Social Committee and his continuous
dedication to his community was a huge part of his life.
Arcade was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He
loved music, singing and playing his guitar at the center and at
festivals with his wife, Venolia. He was a member Royal
Canadian Legion Branch #30 and he was also a member of St. Louis de
Gonzague Roman Catholic Church and being part of these congregations
was extremely important to him.
Arcade will be sadly missed by his son, Terry Fontaine
(Kathleen) of Aldouane and one grandson, Terry
Fontaine.
He is also survived by two sisters, Alice Robichaud
(Paul) of Richibucto, Jeanne Arsenault Vautour (Raymond) of St. Louis;
one brother, Conrad Fontaine (Rita) of Richibucto and many nieces and
nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Venolia
(Robichaud) Fontaine and many brothers and
sisters.
Visitation will be held at Thompson’s Funeral Home
in Richibucto on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm, Wednesday 2-4
& 7-9 pm, Thursday 9:30 am until departure for the
funeral. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 18,
2016 at 11:30 am, St. Louis de Gonzague Roman Catholic Church,
Richibucto. Interment will be in the Aldouane Roman Catholic
Cemetery. Arrangements are in care of Thompson’s
Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252).
