Anne Stadnyk (Oystryk) - February 14

Anne Stadnyk (Oystryk) – February 14, 1924 – July 2, 2016 (age 92)

In Loving Memory of
Anne Stadnyk
1924 – 2016
Anne Stadnyk, age 92 years, of Roblin, Manitoba and formerly of Pleasant Valley District R.M. of Grandview, MB, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Roblin District Health Centre.
Anne Stadnyk was born in Rhein Saskatchewan district to George and Helen (nee Palmaryk) Oystryk on February 14, 1924. She and her sister Mary attended New Canadian School. Anne spoke fondly of her hard working parents. She would help out the neighbours and worked on their farms or helped with looking after the small children.
Anne went to Winnipeg after she finished school and worked at Eaton’s store for a number of years. She loved bowling and would win the turkey for her landlady’s Christmas dinner.
Anne went to a dance in Winnipeg and met a handsome young man. She said her friends said to her “You go out with Paul, he’s a GOOD boy!” And she did! They were married on July 20, 1957.
Their years on the farm were busy. Anne chased cows, baked pies, made perogies, and cooked big meals for the hired men (cooking their favorites – she knew what each man liked). It was strange how the delivery men could land up at Paul and Anne’s at meal time – they would be invited in to share one of Anne’s delicious meals.
Anne and Paul enjoyed going to the local dances, visiting neighbors and working on their farm until Paul’s death on April 26, 2005. Anne moved to Grandview and lived in her house until June of 2008. She then asked Wayne and Jane Slone if she could live with them and they were blessed to have her with them for eight years.
Anne enjoyed visiting with neighbors and friends especially with her goddaughter Valerie, and her husband, Don.
This is a poem called the “Farmer’s Wife’s Prayer” and I think this would be Anne’s prayer over the years with Paul.
Farmer’s Wife’s Prayer —
Lord, I thank You for my husband and this land that I love.
Give me strength to give him help with Your guidance from above. Make me a good partner: attentive listener, my husband’s best friend. When I chose him, I chose this land
a way of life on which we depend. By love we three are one, myself, my husband and this farm. Our labors have been successful, with me at his right arm. So Lord, please keep watch over us, we need Your steady hand. We need Your help and guidance as together we work our farmland.
Ronald L. Knox
Anne was predeceased by her husband, Paul on April 26, 2005 and her parents, George and Helen Oystryk of Rhein, Saskatchewan.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Shabbits of Winnipeg; her niece Judy Edmond of Winnipeg and her children, Katie and Tommy; her nephew Brent Shabbits. Numerous cousins mourn her as well as her friends, Wayne and Jane Slone and their family, and her goddaughter Valerie and her husband Don Todorovich of Brandon, Manitoba.
Anne’s Funeral Service was held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Roblin Evangelical Mission Church with Pastor Randy Moffit officiating. Viewing was held from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. The organist, Laurie Moffit, led the congregational hymns, “The Old Rugged Cross”, “Softly and Tenderly” and “Take my hand Precious Lord”. Lisa and Chad Peters performed special music during the service. Jane Slone delivered the eulogy.
Following the service, a memorial reception was held in the auditorium of the church.
The Casket Bearers, Wayne Slone, Don Todorovich, Waldymir Stadnyk, Brent Shabbits. Russell Stadynk, and Willie Stadnyk carried Anne to her final resting place beside her beloved husband Paul in Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Parish Cemetery at Pelura, Manitoba.
