Obituary of Alfred Moore
Passed away peacefully at the John M. Parrott Centre in Napanee with loving family at his side on Thursday, November 30, 2017, in his 94th year. The youngest of five children to the late Frank and Susan Moore, Alfred was a true work horse in everything he did. From digging ditches, to working at the plant, to assisting the Asselstine’s in Hartington with the farming. The twins always said “he taught them the ropes”. His garden was one of the best and he loved helping out his family. Alfred was a real jokester all the time, especially around the table with his family on special holidays and occasions. He always kept everyone in stitches, even in his old age, although sometimes not even realizing it. Alfred retired at age 65 from Judge Henderson’s farm in Amherstview. This gave him more time to go to M.O.M. Restaurant in Verona, a place he loved. Alfred lost his beloved wife Marie (nee VanLuven) in 1987 and his son Gordon Moore in 2017. He leaves behind his two loving daughters, Louise LaRone of Amherstview and Sheila Martinello of Windsor, his daughter-in-law Agnes Moore, six grandchildren, Sue (John), Jeff, Brian (Denise), Corey, Shari (Brad) and Tammy (Jeremy) and seventeen great grandchildren, Sarah, Jesse, Mitchell and Jayson, Matt, Mandy and Adam, Theiran, Tyson, Taylor and Tristan, Tristan, Peyton, Rylee, Kaidyn, Chance and Jayce. Predeceased by his sisters Mary and Ella Mae, his brothers Willy and Ed and dear friend Fran Compton. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews and their families. The family would like to thank all the management, staff, haircare and Dr. Robichaud in Lilac Knolls for the excellent care that was received at the John M. Parrott Centre. The family will receive friends at the Paul G. Payne Funeral Home, 178 Main St., Odessa, Ontario K0H 2H0 (613-386-7373) on Sunday from 1-4 p.m. Service in the Funeral Home on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. Interment Harrowsmith Cemetery. Memorial donations by cheque please to the Canadian Transplant Association would be appreciated by the family.
