It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Alexander Young, 51, on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born on April 2, 1966, he was the son of the late Henry and Florence Young.
Alex, also known as ‘Elmo’ by family and friends, was employed at Carter Young’s Auto Body as an auto body repairman. Upon its’ closing, Alex accepted a position at Northside Processing. Some of his favourite pastimes were four wheeling, fishing, and spending time with his family and grandson (Little Elmo). Alex’s favourite part of the day was the early morning drives with the love of his life, Sharon.
Alex was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend, who touched the hearts of everyone he met. Alex was also known for giving a helping hand to anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife Sharon, his children Robert (Kayla), and Michael, and his grandson Alexander. Also left to mourn are his brothers Henry (Debbie), and Cyril (Lokie), sisters Pixie (Stewie), and Cathy (late Joe King), sisters-in-law Elaine (Brent), Brenda, and Judy (Vince), brothers-in-law Jimmy (Marie), Joe, Bruce (Wanda), Derrick (Kim), and Cory, many nieces and nephews, and his best friend Shadow.
Alex’s family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers at the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for taking such excellent care of Alex during his final days battling cancer.
Alex’s family will receive visitors at J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. A celebration of Alex’s life will take place at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home, with Deacon Greg Murphy officiating. Donations in Alex’s memory may be made to the Cancer Society, or the Palliative Care Unit at the Regional Hospital. Words of comfort may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
