Obituary for Alan (Cat) Harley Robinson
Alan Harley Robinson (Cat) passed peacefully on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta surrounded by loving family and friends. Cat had a long battle with a degenerative lung condition. He was born on March 14, 1956 in Woodstock, Ontario. He went to school in Woodstock and moved to Banff Alberta at age 18 for a summer job, fell in love with the mountains and never really left. Alan worked in the food and beverage industry, and was an avid scratch golfer, a gifted athlete who would become head pro at The Banff Springs Hotel Tennis Club, club champion at The Banff Springs Golf Club. He lent his expertise to coaching high school basketball and was an accomplished downhill skier and overall natural athlete. He made any sport look easy. Food and wine was another passion that took him many places where he acquired many new friends and eventually brought him back to Calgary where he met his true love, Carolyn who shared many great times. He is survived by beloved mother, Laura; father, Roy; brothers, Brian and David; sisters, Susan and Karen; his partner, Carolyn Mcdonald; and Uncle Keith. Cat is also survived by his nieces, Elizabeth, Jenna, Susan and Katherine and nephew Jason. Cat’s spirit created a plethora of friends, so many they can’t be named on this page. His friend’s will forever hold his spirit and memory dear. A Memorial service in Woodstock Ontario and a Celebration of Life in Banff Alberta will be announced at a later date. Cremation has already taken place.
