Obituary Aidan Charles Earl Barnes passed away at his home in Edmonton on December 13, 2011, at the age of 23 months after a courageous battle with cancer. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Aidan had touched throughout his short, yet memorable life. Aidan’s smile melted all those he met and his courage led us to believe that each day is a gift. He loved dancing to music by Pink and Katy Perry and could listen to Itsy-Bitsy Spider countless times. His kitty Sam, Booster Juice and his favourite monkey could always be counted on to put a smile on his face. We will not be able to see a squirrel, a bus or choo-choo trains without thinking of the happiness those sights brought him. Aidan will forever be remembered by his loving parents Gary and Stephanie Barnes (nee Edgren), formerly of Anchorage, Alaska, devoted sister Mckenzie and brother Gage; great-grandmother Frankie Grace of Memphis, Tennessee; grandparents Peter and Lyn Barnes of Sangudo; David and Heather Edgren of Wasilla, Alaska; Cheryl Douglas of Anchorage, Alaska; his uncles and aunts Geoff and Allison Barnes of Edmonton, Lizbeth, Jonathan, Tristan and Joshua Edgren all of Anchorage, Alaska; by his cousin Bret and many extended family and friends across Alberta, Australia, Washington, Alaska and Boston whom were blessed to know him. There is a special place in our hearts for Aidan’s doctors, surgeons, nurses, social workers, Child Life Specialists and caregivers at both the Stollery Children’s Hospital and at the Massachusetts General Hospital for Children in Boston. Because of their continual dedication, love and support, Aidan was able to survive some of his toughest medical challenges. All of these special people, too numerous to mention provided Aidan with love and dignity in his life. Following cremation, there will be a Memorial Service Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 St., Edmonton, Alberta. Memorial donations can be made to the Kids With Cancer Society 11135-84 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta, T6G 0V9. Aidan gave us a lifetime of love during his short time on earth. We will love you always our precious baby.
