Obituary
On May 21, 2017 Agnes Provost nee Brosseau passed away suddenly but peacefully at 99 years.
Agnes is survived by daughter Marie Burghardt, grandchildren Katherine Treadwell (Paul), Christopher Burghardt, Jennifer Snethun (Scott); great-grandchildren Hannah, Cael, Jack; siblings, Jean McNally, Wilfred, Georges, and John Brosseau.
She was predeceased by husbands Louis Thomas and Gordon Provost; parents Alphonse and Hazel Brosseau; brothers Raymond, Bob (Laurent) and Paul Brosseau, sister Helen Hillary, grandson Jason Burghardt.
Second in a family of nine, Agnes was born on March 4, 1918 in Vegreville AB. She was raised in Brosseau and then St. Paul. Agnes completed high school at St. Mary’s, Edmonton and then furthered her education taking business courses at Alberta College. Her early experience in retail at her father’s store in St. Paul and later in Bonnyville gave Agnes an excellent merchandising background. She went on to open her own store in Mallaig, AB, with her husband Louis Thomas. She was clearly a woman before her time, running her own business in the 1940’s. Fashion-conscious throughout her life, Agnes also worked in Edmonton at MacArthur’s Dress Shop where her excellent style sense was reflected in her own wardrobe. Agnes was a very sociable person who loved to dance and had a passion for bridge. She maintained a busy social life until her mid-nineties, dancing weekly and playing bridge.
In the last three years, Agnes lived at Capital Care Lynnwood and loved it there. She was a regular patron of the hairdressing salon and rarely missed her weekly manicure- fire engine red, of course! She loved the staff and the family thanks them for their excellent care.
A funeral liturgy will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Connelly McKinley Funeral Home, 10011-114 St. Edmonton.
