Doreen Margaret Moore
Doreen Moore, age 84, of Dartmouth passed away on December 22, 2017 at the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Ship Harbour she was a daughter of the late Edith and John Gilbert.
Doreen was the heart of her family and was an active part of her grandchildren and great grand children’s lives. She loved parties and any opportunity to celebrate and could always be found on the dance floor at some point during a party. She loved the Toronto Blue Jays and was a dedicated Montreal Expos fan. She enjoyed watching game shows such as Survivor, Big Brother and Amazing Race. She enjoyed puzzle books, word finds, puzzles, reading the daily paper, scratch tickets, knitting, camping and so many other things. Her family enjoyed her cooking and baking and will especially miss her cinnamon rolls, apple pie, tea biscuits and stew. You could always count on her to speak her mind and tell you the truth, even if it was not easy to hear. She was a real animal lover and had many pets over the years. Above all she loved Christmas and spent many hours decorating her home so that walking into her place was like stepping back into your childhood.
She is survived by daughters; Peggy Lamb and Charlene Moore, son; Charles Moore, brothers; Howard and Gerald Gilbert, grandchildren; Angela, Andrea, Sara, Emma and Robert Lamb, Peter and Sarah Neville, great grandchildren; Robert, Mackenzie, Erica, Demarcus and Kobe.
She was predeceased by her husbands; Harvey Keeping and Charles Moore, son; Bernard Keeping, sisters; Bertha, Anita and Jean, and brothers; Bernard and Lorne.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 29th at Atlantic Funeral Home 771 Main Street, Dartmouth from 2-4 and 7-9. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 30th at 1 pm at the same location. Private family burial on January 3rd at Dartmouth Memorial Garden Cemetery.
