Rev. Merle Fran Six – Port Hawkesbury
Rev. Merle Fran Six, 73 of Port Hawkesbury passed away November 8, 2017 at home. Born on December 4, 1943 in Los Angeles, California she was a daughter of Fred Louis and Myrtle Irene (Donovan) Six.
Fran held an Audio Visual Library position at Queens University from 1972 to 1982, and worked as an Educational Counselor at Our Lady of Fatima School with the Chapleau School Board from 1991 to 1998 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Native Studies and Minor in Environmental Science from Trent University, Peterborough, Ontario in 1983 and a Master Divinity from Queens Theological School, Kingston Ontario in 2002
Her call to ministry came forth while a member of St. Matthew’s United Church in Kingston Ontario. At the church she enjoyed offering leadership in pulpit supply, teaching Sunday school, visiting seniors and leading Wolf Cubs. Her final ministry position was with the West Bay Pastoral Charge.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed everything from human-interest stories to cartoons and in her younger years also enjoyed sports such as volleyball, canoeing and bowling.
She is survived by her only relative, nephew Dave Six, Scottsdale, Arizona and was predeceased by her brother Fred Louis Six Jr.
A graveside service will be held on December 20, 2017 at 2 pm from MacKay Cemetery, St. George’s Channel, with Rev. Donna Lovelace and Nan Corrigan D.M. co-presiding.
Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Green’s Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
