Obituary for Jason Pak Wai Lee
Markham — Jason Pak Wai Lee, died Wednesday morning, November 29, 2017 at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto following a long, courageous fight in the critical ICU after complications post cardiac surgery. He was surrounded by his family.
He leaves his wife of 51 years, Theresa (Kou) Lee; his daughter, Grace (Yvonne) Churchill and her husband, Michael Churchill; his son, Michael Lee; two granddaughters Kaitlin and Megan; and many cousins, family and close friends.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, educated in London, England and called to the bar at Osgoode Hall in Toronto, Mr. Lee returned to Hong Kong and worked alongside his father as partners in their law firm C.C. Lee & Co for about 20 years, specializing in Corporate and Real Estate Law.
After moving to Canada in 1986, Mr. Lee was the Legal Counsel for Baker and McKenzie’s Far East business portfolio until his early retirement at the age of 47. After which, Mr. Lee enjoyed giving his time and expertise as a volunteer. He has participated on committees, projects, team and Boards at Waterfront Tennis Club, Georgian Peaks Ski Club, Cottingham Tennis Club, Hunt Club, Cedar Brae Golf and Country Club and most recently, as the Secretary on the Board of the Stoneybrook Golf and Country Club in Sarasota Florida.
Mr. Lee had a passion for good food, good friends and most of all, his family. As a Canadian snowbird for the last 23 years, Mr. Lee would enjoy time with his friends and family in both of his homes in Markham and in Florida.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 4th at 11am in Markham with private cremation to follow. Visitation will take place the same day from 10am to 11am.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the Stoneybrook Golf and Country Club House in Sarasota, Florida on Friday, December 15th at 11:30am.
The family has requested no flowers be sent. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Sunnybrook Hospital Heart Centre in Mr. Lee’s memory.
