Obituary Overview
Lawrence Edwin Sapieha
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence Edwin Sapieha. He passed away peacefully at St. Paul’s Hospital on October 16, 2017.
Lawrence was born on July 9, 1946. He was raised on the family farm in Krydor, SK. He attended a one room school house at Uhryno School. In 1959 the family relocated to Saskatoon, but continued to operate the family farm. Lawrence graduated from Mount Royal Collegiate and shortly after began his career at Canada Post. In 1968 Lawrence married the love of his life Linda, and they were blessed with their only child Blaine in 1969. The family built a beautiful home in Montgomery Place in Saskatoon where Linda resides to this day. Lawrence had a successful career with Canada Post for 35 years. He started as a letter carrier and ultimately finished as Superintendent of Mail Service Couriers in Saskatoon when he retired in 2001. Through all the years Lawrence pursued his passion for woodworking, landscaping, carpentry, and entertaining family and friends. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, gardening, and fall harvests. Most of all, Lawrence loved family and helping people with the talents and provisions God gave him.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Linda (Nagy) of 49 years, his son Blaine (Carla), and his two granddaughters Bailey and Berkley who he loved dearly. His sister Elaine (Jerry) Stadnyk, twin brothers Ken (Donna) Sapieha and Ron (Vonnie) Sapieha), numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Lawrence was predeceased by his parents Paul and Pauline (Woytiuk) and his stepmother Hazel (Bisal-nee Ireland), his father and mother-in-law John and Julia Nagy, and brother-in-law Zoltan Nagy. The family would like to extend our appreciation to the kind and caring staff of St. Paul’s Hospital, Royal University Hospital, and Home Care.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Park Funeral Home, 311 Third Ave. North, Saskatoon, SK with the Most Reverend Bishop Bryan Bayda officiating.
In Lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Saskatchewan Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
