Joseph L. « Sonny » Ratto
Ratto, Joseph Lucien “Sonny” – 82 of Halifax and formerly of Stillwater Lake. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph on October 25, 2017. Born in Halifax November 30, 1934, he was the eldest son of the late Joseph Sr. and Dorothy (Boutilier) Ratto. He is survived by his wife, Joyce (Leeman); daughter Christine Keeping (Mark), Tantallon; step daughter, Cynthia Hackett (Derek), Halifax; stepson, George Hackett (Cathie), Bedford; brother, Gordon, Halifax; son in law, Randy Bishop, Bathurst, NB; sister in law, Mary, Sackville as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Celeste Bishop; son, Andrew Ratto as well as his brother William. Joseph worked for CBC Television for 35 years retiring in 1991. He enjoyed spending time with his brother, Gordon and going to the HAM Radio Festivals. Joseph had several hobbies including HAM radio, VE1ADB, computers, golfing and travelling, spending 15 winters in Florida with Joyce as snowbirds. Cremation has taken place under the care of Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. In keeping with Joseph’s wishes, a private graveside service will take place at a later date.
