Obituary
Noreen, after a lengthy struggle with dementia and strokes, cashed her ticket to heaven on May 10, 2017 at the age of 80.
Noreen was born and raised, as the youngest of 8, in her beloved Irish homeland where she fortunately met her soul mate and devoted husband of 59 years, Terrance “Terry” Mahon. Shortly after their marriage Terry and Noreen, in 1958, set out by ship for Canada. After landing on the east coast they made the treck across Canada by rail to settle and adopt Edmonton as their second home. They enjoyed a very happy personal and professional life together. They touched and were touched by many. Noreen enjoyed a very lengthy (1959-1993) and productive career with the Alberta Government serving as secretary/administrative assistant to many Registrars of Land Titles and Directors of Legal Research.
Noreen was predeceased by her beloved son, Terence Raymond “Terry Jr”. and her siblings Mary, Pauline, Thomas, Dermot and Sean.
Noreen will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Maraide and Angela and her devoted husband …..
“Please God forgive a silent tear, a constant wish that she was here. Others were taken, yes I know, but she was mine and I loved her so.
In keeping with Noreen’s wishes, cremation has taken place and her ashes will be returned to Ireland where a memorial service will be held in the church where we were married. ….Terry”
A Celebration of Noreen’s life will be held between 2:00 and 5:00 pm on Sunday, June 18th, 2017 at the Edmonton Golf and Country Club, 6201 Country Club Rd NW, Edmonton, AB.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Noreen may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
