It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, John David Romeo, 55, on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sydney Mines on October 22, 1961, John was the son of Madonna (McIntyre) Romeo and the late Lewis James Romeo.
John will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 25 years, Belinda (Dunphy) Romeo, and his sons Ryan (Jackie) and David. He also leaves behind his mother Madonna, brother Dale, sisters Anne (John) Evans, Donna (Gary) Cox, Beverly (Rick) Beehler, and Debbie (Jim) Gwinn, also many nieces, nephews, cousins, father-in-law Percy Dunphy (Mae O’Connor), and his great friend, Brian O’Toole.
Besides his father Lewis, he was predeceased by his maternal grandparents John and Hilda McIntyre, and paternal grandparents Peter and Anne Romeo.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with John’s cousin Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. A reception will take place in the parish hall, following the service.
