Obituary

Running Rabbit (Drunken Chief) Mavis Theodora. February 17, 1941 – April 15, 2017.
Natoowaypooyakii was called home to be with our Heavenly Father, she leaves behind her husband of 56 years, Floyd Running Rabbit; her precious daughters Florene(Noran), Carolyn(Edwin), Dora, Vivian(Smoke), Jayme and Kelly(Stephanie). Together her and Floyd had 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, many of whom they raised. Special niece and nephew, Verna Collinson and Greggy Emmons. Her siblings, Joe Patrick, Doris Yellowfly, Albert Owl Child, Betty, Joan and Douglas Poor Eagle; in-laws Beverly Runner and Flora(Larry) Whitney and numerous nieces and nephews. Mavis was predeceased by her parents Theodore (Barbara) Drunken Chief and Jane Poor Eagle; siblings Lorraine, Laverne, George, Teddy, Roy, Dwight, and Shelly; in laws Jack and Mary Running Rabbit and her grandson Darren. Mavis graduated as a Registered Nurse in the 1960s and as a Social Worker from Mount Royal College in 1975. Mavis made her Cursillo in 1984 and was honoured to be the Rectora of the Cursillo in May of 1993. Mavis had many accomplishes in her life, and she was kind hearted to everyone she encountered in all aspects of her daily life. The family would like to specially thank Unit 62 Staff of Foothills Medical Centre and Siksika EMS for taking such great care of our mother. Wake service will be held at the home of Mavis and Floyd (South Camp) at 6:00 pm on Friday, April 21. Funeral Mass at 11:00 am on April 22 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Siksika.
