The family announces with sorrow his passing on Sunday, January 29, 2017, at the Timmins and District Hospital.
Predeceased by his wife Charlotte (Tootsie) in 2006 and by his granddaughter Adrianna Camirand in 2007.
Survived by his children Trevor Southcott (Carole), Colleen Lionello (Mark) and Brenda Camirand (Daniel).
Dear grandfather of Danielle Southcott, Elena Lionello, Gabriel Lionello and Layla Camirand.
He will be sadly missed by his companion Joan Johnston.
He is survived by his twin sister Sandra Evans (Gordon) and his sister Irene Mitton (Harvey).
Also predeceased by his parents Archibald and Winnifred Southcott and by his sister Patricia Reid.
Melvin retired from Kidd Creek Mine after working over 30 years.
He was very devoted to his children and grandchildren.
He was an avid hockey and softball player and enjoyed many other sports.
He was always involved in the sporting activities of his children and grandchildren.
He was also a big Boston Bruins fan.
His family was very important to him.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, February 2, 2017 in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will follow at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 1, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at
Lessard-Stephens Funeral Home
