William (Bill) Bernard Devereaux
1940-2016
Born in Belledune, New Brunswick on August 20, 1940, William (Bill)
Bernard Devereaux died peacefully on Dec 11, 2016 at Doctor Everett
Chalmers Hospital with family by his side. Son of late Urban and
Helen (Culligan) Devereaux.
He is survived by his wife Geraldine (Lafferty) Devereaux; son Damian;
daughters Debbie (John Comfort) and Janet (Tim Phillips); 5 grandsons
Ethan, Alex, Johnny, Ryan and Evan; brothers Chester (Betty) and
Robert (Linda); sisters Elizabeth Cooke, Ursula (Ian) McCallum and
Corinne (Steven) Mikulak; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers
Charles, Roderick, and Frankie and brother in law James Cooke.
Bill was a dedicated employee of Bank of Nova Scotia for 38 years and
worked at various branches in Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and New
Brunswick, with his last posting as Branch Manager in Nackawic,
NB.
Bill enjoyed all kinds of music and strumming the guitar. He was an
avid Chicago Blackhawk fan and loved to skate, play golf and baseball,
and go for walks with his wife Gerry and dog Betsy. Bill also had a
great affinity for gardening and winemaking, never shying away from
trying a new plant variety or wine making technique. Half of the fun
for him was sharing it with others to enjoy.
Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his many friends and family,
especially his five grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s name to the
Canadian Cancer Society.
Visitation will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive,
Nackawic, NB on Friday, December 16, 2016 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon.
The funeral service will be held at 12 noon from the funeral home
chapel with Father Aaron Knox officiating. A reception will follow in
the funeral home dining room.
