It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Paige Marie Burchell, 30, on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at the Halifax Infirmary, surrounded by her loving family, following a brief illness.
Born in North Sydney on September 15, 1986, she was the daughter of Ray and Joanne (Jobes) Burchell.
Paige was a hard- working, devoted mother of two children, Hailey and Georgie, who were the centre and light of her life. She enjoyed spending time in Ingonish with her children and family, and for several summers worked at her grandfather’s restaurant “The Seagull” in Ingonish. Paige was a loyal friend to many and enjoyed the times she was able to spend with them. Particularly, time spent with her brothers, whom she considered to be among her closest friends.
Paige’s love for the beach and travel resulted in trips with her mom to the Dominican Republic, one of her favorite places. Paige’s greatest joy in life came from spending time with her children. Her love for and commitment to them will unquestionably leave Hailey and George with fond and loving memories of their Mom for the rest of their lives.
In addition to Paige’s employment at the Seagull Restaurant, she was employed full time at the Clansman Restaurant since 2014. Prior to this, she worked at the Waterside Restaurant, North Sydney.
Besides her parents, also left to mourn are Paige’s precious children Hailey and Georgie, their father George Davis, brothers Josh (Margaret) Ft. McMurray, Jonathan (Melissa) and Justin (Santanya) both of Sydney Mines, and nieces and nephews Caleb, Ella, Sophie, Noah and Ryder. Also left heartbroken is Paige’s maternal grandfather, John Dan Jobes (Bev Mitchelitis), Sydney Mines, along with many aunts and uncles; Alvena (Ray) Poole, Halifax, Cyril (Anne)Burchell, Ontario, Joan (Jim) Prince, Sydney Mines, Alan (Sue) Burchell, Ft. McMurray, Theresa (Joe) Lynk , Ft. McMurray, Peter (Gena) Burchell, Calgary, Laura Roberts, Ft. McMurray, Gail (late, Donnie) Maclean, Ingonish, Manning (Andre Campbell) Jobes, Sydney Mines, Lori (Gary) Jessome, Sydney Mines, and Kara Jobes (Travis Williams), Ingonish . Paige will also be sadly missed by many cousins, especially Catlin Moores, with whom she shared a special bond.
Paige was predeceased by her paternal grandparents Cyril and Alvena (Landry) Burchell, maternal grandmother Nora (Murphy) Jobes, along with aunts Carol and Yvonne.
Visitation for Paige Marie Burchell will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines. A funeral mass to celebrate her life will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. James Oliver officiating.
