Obituary for Violet Lea
LEA: Violet Esther Lea passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Hillcrest Personal Care Home with family by her side. Violet was born in Vantage, Saskatchewan on July 31, 1930. Soon after the family moved to Durbin, Manitoba where she grew up on the family farm. She moved to Winnipeg Manitoba in 1951, where she worked at the CP Hotel – The Royal Alexander. She later moved to Brandon where she was employed at Neelin High School for 25 years. It was here in Brandon that she raised her three daughters and took great pride in being a grandma and great-grandma. Violet was predeceased by her parents and siblings. She is survived by her daughters: Sharon (Brian) Jaska, Carol (Bob) Smit and Bev (Greg) Masterman; seven grandchildren: Michael Jaska (Jenny Smith), Matthew Jaska, Tara Smit, Julie (Kent) Brown, Jenn (Jamie) Laffin, Dustin Watts (Hannah Kelly) and Wyatt Masterman; five great-grandchildren Hayden and Carson Brown, Brady and Kyler Laffin and Ronan Watts. A family graveside service will be held at the Brandon Cemetery with Lydia Glawson, Funeral Celebrant officiating. A reception will follow at Memories Chapel. Donations in memory of Violet may be made to a charity of choice. The family would like to thank the staff at Hillcrest Personal Care Home for the wonderful care given to mom over the past six years.
