Marley Stephen Dash
December 31, 1952 – November 4, 2016
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marley Stephen Dash on Friday, November 4, 2016, at the age of 63.
Marley is survived by his wife of 29 years, Brenda, their two sons Stephen (Alyssa) and James; his siblings, Gordon Jr. (Donna), Joseph (Brenda), Michelle, and many family members and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Anne, and his brother, Robert.
Marley was born on December 31, 1952 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1978 with a Bachelor of Laws degree. Marley had a successful 30 year career as a Crown attorney for the Province of Manitoba, Government of Canada, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Marley was a man with many skills, interests, and hobbies. He spent years raising cattle and farming in Tyndall, Manitoba with his father. Dad enjoyed watching and playing many sports; particularly baseball and curling. Music was an important part of his life, as he owned and listened to countless albums from various musical genres. He was an avid mechanic and auto restorer. Dad’s prized possession was his 1970 Corvette Stingray that he kept in mint condition. Dad restored a 1965 Chevelle Malibu SS, and recently restored an antique Cockshutt Farm Tractor in honor of his late father. In his retirement, Dad enjoyed spending time at the farm in Tyndall, Manitoba; the land he loved dearly. Dad was a loving husband and father. He was always full of good humour, and someone many people turned to for advice.
A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Gilbart Funeral Home – 309 Eveline St, Selkirk, MB.
