David M. Copeland
David M. Copeland, 88, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at
The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, October 29, 2016. Born in Detroit,
Michigan, he was the son of the late Frederick « Millan » and
Ena (Lutes) Copeland.
David entered the CN in 1949 as an Electrical Apprentice and
then he became Supervisor in several departments up until his
retirement in 1986 with 38 years’ service.
He attended Hillside Baptist Church, where he served on
various committees and in various capacities over the years. He was a
former member of St. John’s United Church, a member of the
CN Pensioners Association and the CN Supervisors Association. David
enjoyed golfing, bowling, square dancing, woodworking and travelling.
While his children were young, he and Helen and the children enjoyed
camping across Canada and the US. David and Dorothy travelled world
wide, visiting such destinations as Europe, the British Isles, Hawaii,
New Zealand, and Australia, Canada and the US and several places in
between.
David will be sadly missed by his daughter, Susan Copeland of
Boundary Creek; sister, Ena Mae Hood (Joseph) of Riverview and
brother, Robert Copeland (Betty) of Ottawa, ON; in-laws, Jean (late
Earl) Anderson, Ernest (late Pauline) Tidd, Judith Christie (Robert),
Lorraine (late Ralph) Anderson, Annie (late Gerald) Freeman and Marion
(late Stafford) Freeman; several nieces, nephews and
cousins.
In addition to his parents and stepmother, Muriel (Warren)
Copeland (January 2016), he was predeceased by his first wife, Helen
(Anderson) Copeland (1975) and second wife, Dorothy (Freeman) Copeland
(November 2015); son, Alan Copeland (2006).
No visitation by personal request. A Service to
celebrate and to honor David’s life will be held at
Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995)
on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 1:30 pm, with Pastor Jerry Reddy and
Pastor Gordon Horsman officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home
Reception Centre following the service. Interment will be held in
Elmwood Cemetery.
