Robert Paul Bob Beechinor – 2016

ROBERT (BOB) PAUL BEECHINOR
Bob Beechinor beloved husband, father, brother, grandpa and great-grandpa passed away peacefully on Monday, October 24, 2016. He will be missed by his wife of 63 years, Mary, daughter Colleen and sons Michael, Tim (Lisa), John, Kevin (Stephanie) and brother Rev. Ronald. Bob was also the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott Leflar), Quinlan, Madison, Brogan, Mary, Julia, Kate and Thomas, as well as great-grandchildren Emma and Owen. He was predeceased by his parents John and Ann Beechinor, brothers Tom, Jack and Patrick as well as sisters, Peg, Ann, Lillian, Mary and Eileen. Born in 1930, he grew up with his nine brothers and sisters in the City Park neighbourhood in Saskatoon. An accomplished goalie, he spent his free time playing hockey before attending St. Peter’s College. In 1953, he met Mary Waldbillig, a public health nurse, in Turtleford, SK. They married on June 4, 1954 and settled in Prince Albert to start a family. The family also lived in North Battleford and Winnipeg before returning to the Haultain area of Saskatoon. Bob was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus and recently Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Philip Neri parishes. He also loved his time on the road with his brother Ron travelling to many rural parishes where Ron was celebrating mass. Bob’s professional career spanned years touching many lives and locations including Prince Albert, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, North Battleford, Lynn Lake, Buffalo Narrows and Baffin Island. His accomplishments grew from entry into the construction supply business, to being superintendent of large construction projects, to developing training and employment for workers in northern areas. His approach to work and life helped him overcome many challenges he faced throughout his career gaining him respect and friendship. Bob had the resiliency to stand and face both personal and professional challenges. Like many of his generation, his accomplishments were not gained easily but he readily took on challenges and overcame them with his hard work, smiles and a wee dram of stubbornness. He will be remembered for his generous heart, friendly nature and twinkling blue eyes. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Philip Neri Parish, 1902 Munroe Avenue South, Saskatoon, SK on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a lunch reception in the parish centre. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Bob to Chalice 101-26 Union Street, Bedford, NS B4A 2B5 or online at www.chalice.ca.
