Cécile Prieur passed away peacefully of natural causes on October 18, 2016, at Au Chateau, in Sturgeon Falls. Born on October 12, 1916, daughter of Adrien and Alma Prieur (née Nadeau). Cécile was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Germaine Gallagher (late Richard), Gerard (late Coral) Leon, Jean (Isabelle), Jeanne Jarry (late Olivier), and Jacqueline Sprentall (late Marshall). She is survived by her brothers Jacques (late Paulette), Guy (Jacqueline) and Marcel (late Pauline and late Louise), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Considered the matriarch of the family, her generosity and positive outlook on life were unparalleled, and her mind and spirit remained sharp, as always, until her passing. Her home on Main Street, where she nurtured a greenhouse full of African violets, and her cottage on Lake Nipissing, where all were welcomed around the long kitchen table, were, for many decades, THE family gathering place for everyone. She recently celebrated her 100 years in the company of four generations of family members all of whom will hold special memories of “Tante Cecile”. Her unwavering devotion to her family and non-judgmental wisdom will be sincerely missed and have left an incredible mark that will live on for many generations to come. A mass will be celebrated at St. Therese d’Avila Church in Cache Bay, on Saturday, November 5th, 2016. Visitation at 10:00 am followed by the service at 11:00 am.
