William Kenneth Johnston age 73 of Halifax passed away peacefully at the QEII Hospital on October 7,2016. Bill was the 5th child of William H Johnston and Catherine M Blackburn. Pre-deceased by his wife of 40 years Colleen H (Mason), siblings Ted, Allan, Grace, Bobby, Carolyn and Dougie ,cousin Mary Garnier and grandson David . Survived by his children, Cathy (Glenn), Linda (Terry), Billy, Patty (Chris), David, and Vicky (Troy). Grandchildren- Caitlyn, Samantha, Krystal, Melissa, Mikaela, Lisa, Micheal, Alexandra, Carrie, Kristian, Tyler, Logan. As well as Great Grandchildren Lucas , Laila, Thomas, Hayden, Tucker and several others . Siblings, Marilyn, Donnie, Arthur, Wilfred, David, and Debbie as well as many many nieces and nephews.
Bill was employed by the Coastguard as well as National Sea products prior to his retirement as a ships cook.
A special thank you to all of the nurses and doctors from Emergency to Cardiac ICU, to the IMCU unit for their exceptional care of Bill. A very special thank you to his sister Debbie for all of her support as well as his sister Marilyn for her support.
At Bill’s request there will be no viewing or service. A Private family gathering will be arranged at a later date. Cremation will take place.
Donations can be made in memory of Bill to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
