Nyron Sookraj passed away peacefully at Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga on October 1, 2016, after a courageous display of strength and determination battling a rare and aggressive cancer at the age of 67.
Born in Betsy Ground, Guyana, Nyron will be remembered for his positive perspective, wisdom, and promotion of growth and change. As a believer and dreamer, a man of action and principles, he was an inspiration who taught acceptance, forgiveness and love. A generous man of character, Nyron valued the potential and uniqueness of all people and places, and how cultures connect. Well-rounded, he loved to travel and appreciated architecture, the arts, nature and sports. Highly accomplished, his professional legacy has been left after 37 passionate years working as a social worker and manager in child protection services across the GTA at the Catholic Children’s Aid Society and George Hull.
He leaves behind his wife Mary Cordeiro, his three children (Justin, Lisa and Jacob), ten siblings, and countless friends, colleagues and clients whose lives he touched with his compassion and his peaceful bright spirit.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Hope for Children Scholarship Fund Nyron supported. https://www.cafdn.org/in-memory/
