James Stenhouse – 2016

James Stenhouse
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Jeffery Stenhouse, who passed away on June 6, 2016 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre.
James Jeffery Stenhouse was born on August 23, 1968 in Redver, SK to his proud parents James Douglas and Gloria Faith (Shane) Stenhouse. Jeffery grew up with his two brothers and two sisters in a loving home in a small town and later to a family farm in the Calder district.
As a young boy Jeff was very mechanically inclined. He would take apart anything that was not working and would usually be able to fix it. He also had a great love for dogs, and his dog was his best friend. When he became school age Jeff was immensely proud of the fact that he had a summer job. He felt mature, becoming an employee of the market garden close to his family home in Disley, SK and having the finances to go to the store in town to shop and pay with his own money.
When the family moved to the farm Jeff was eager to learn and help wherever he was able. He would happily work alongside his father. He quickly picked up the values his father and mother imparted about family, work ethic and moral character, that only farm life can instill.
It was around this time that Jeff became interested in becoming a person who was seen as well spoken. His love of the English language continued throughout his life, along with the love of history. When Jeff was 15 he started to work part time for Man-Sask Distributors as well as helping at home on the farm, this continued until he was out of school. His first full time job was road construction until he got on with his brother Larry out in the oil patch. Jeff was not content being a rough neck, so he went to school, got his tickets and moved up the ranks to driller in no time.
In 1991 he was married to Maureen. Soon thereafter he became the father to three beautiful children; two sons and a daughter. This was the proudest time in his life.
In 1995 Jeff started his own roofing business on his “off time” from the rigs. His last child, a son, was born as well, making him very proud. Soon after Jeff’s health started to diminish.
In 2011 Jeff moved home to Wroxton, SK to be with family. This was no surprise to anyone because he was very family oriented. He proceeded to help care for his ailing father, and to support his mother where he could. After his father passed in 2012 Jeff’s health declined significantly until his illness prematurely stole him away from us.
Jeff is survived by: his four children Dustin, Kaitlyn, Teagan and Grayham; granddaughter Jordyn; mother Gloria Faith; brother Jamie (Hally); sisters Brenda and Laurie (Curtis); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his beloved father, James Douglas Stenhouse and his brother Larry Douglas Stenhouse.
A private family graveside service was held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 in Elkhorn, Manitoba.
