Obituary
Benedict passed away peacefully into the arms of our loving God. He was born in Sri Lanka, moved to Malaysia, then to Canada. He was predeceased by his wife, Pearl in 2008 and son, Surrendra in 2009. Benedict was the last surviving sibling of his family.
He will be sadly missed by his children: Nimal (Susan) de Silva, Siromee de Silva, Elrene (Sid) Dwernychuk, Anne McEvoy, Althea (Brian) Walker and Cheryl (Ed) Lock; grandchildren, Kathryn (Zachery) Belak, Jessica (Shawn) Curran and Bryan (Lindsay) Dwernychuk; great-grandchildren, Theodore, Jag, Cai, Ava and Mya, as well as numerous relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff from St. Andrew Centre as well as Dr. Harkirat S. Sidhu of St. Andrew Centre clinic for his care and compassion.
Visitation and Prayers will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 12810 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton at 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 29, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the same location at 11:00 am on Friday, September 30, 2016 with cremation to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 10804 – 109 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5H 3C1.
