Obituary for Edward Freeman
EDWARD (TED) THEODORE FREEMAN
On September 5, 2016, at the age of 82, Ted slipped peacefully away from us. Among those who loved him and will miss him every day are son Tod; daughters, Cheryl and Nola (Greg), and grandsons, Cole and Mason. He will be remembered by his brother Len (Adrienne) and sister Shirley, and many nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Anne, birth parents Edward and Ann, his adoptive parents Amie and Alice, brother Dick, and sister Flo. Ted was born in Winnipeg and spent his childhood and youth in Norwood. He married the love of his life, Anne, on December 30, 1961. Shortly after the birth of his son in November 1962, the family moved to a new home in the town of Transcona. His family grew to include daughters, Cheryl and Nola. Dad believed that he had been blessed with a full and happy life. Dad’s love and generous nature were evident everywhere. Dad worked many years in a wide variety of jobs including film processing and as an electrician. He was very handy, and often spent time on a number of woodworking and handyman projects. Dad was always available to assist with any problems that came our way, and he got involved in his kids activities including coaching baseball and assisting with Brownie outings. Dad had a great love of the outdoors which was evident in the many summers spent as a family camping (mostly in Grand Beach) and on numerous vacation trips across the continent. Trips later in life after the kids had grown, included forays with his wife to see the Blue Jays play or to take in sights as far away as the Alaskan coast. Even after his beloved wife of 42 years passed away, Dad continued his adventures with numerous trips to Disneyworld, Maui, Branson and Minneapolis. As his health failed and travel became too difficult, Dad resorted to using the internet to quench his desire to explore the world and pass on the gift of humor to friends and family. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 9 at 2:00 pm at Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day Street. The family is declining flowers. Donations may be made in his honour to a charity of your choice.
