Ruth Maureen (Connors) Foran
1938-2016
On September 7, our mom waded into the water at Parlee Beach
to enjoy a dip on a beautiful hot beach day, collapsed and later
passed away despite valiant efforts to bring her back to
life. Our family spent every summer at Parlee Beach and this
summer was no exception. Ruth spent time with each of her
five children, their children and their children’s children
at the cottage this summer, as recently as two glorious beach days
over the Labour Day Weekend. She also spent time with her
three siblings and hosted some close girlfriends for a few
days. Her last summer was a good one! Our mom was
a very caring, thoughtful person with a quiet presence and a gift for
anticipating our needs and « being there » when and
how we needed her. We all have wonderful memories of her and feel
blessed that she was our mother. A graduate of the NB
Teacher’s College and the University of Moncton, she was an
excellent teacher and taught school in Dorchester, Campbellton and
Moncton (Birchmount and Queen Elizabeth) during her lengthy teaching
career. In retirement, she enjoyed her winter activities of
regular exercise classes, playing bridge with friends and travel with
family and friends. Her summers were focused on family and
cottage. She attended St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic
Church in Moncton and was a member of the St. Augustine’s
Roman Catholic Women’s League (CWL) and the Holy Family
Seniors Group and Bridge Group.
She was predeceased by her husband Roderick Foran
and her parents Leo and Elsie Connors. We know our dad was
there to give her a big bear hug when she passed. She is
survived by her children Maureen Reid (Doug), Margaret Currie (Joe
Mortimer), Kevin Foran, Marie Kimmerer (Dan) and Jim Foran (Nicole);
grandchildren Jim Currie (Natalie), Jessica O’Kane (Tom),
Jasmine Baines (Jason), Savannah, Christopher and Roddy Kimmerer,
Aidan and Brodie Foran and Lily Reid; great-grandchildren Kitara, Ted,
Nowell, Talon, Meadow and Sophie Rose; brothers David and Vincent
Connors, sister Anne Lorriman (Stuart), nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the paramedics, medical professionals and
all those who helped our mother after her collapse at the
beach. We are grateful for your efforts.
