Obituary for Elsie Braund
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mom, grandma and great-grandma, Elsie Braund, age 91 years, on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Rideau Park Personal Care Home. She was born July 1, 1925 in Yellowgrass, Saskatchewan, and had eight sisters and one brother. Upon meeting Albert Braund, they were later married in Seven Sisters Falls. Albert’s job with Manitoba Hydro moved the family from Selkirk to Grand Rapids and finally Brandon in 1968, where they remained. Elsie will be remembered for her love of gardening, sewing and especially cooking and baking for all her family and friends. Remaining to cherish Elsie’s memory are her son Bruce (Marlene Lombaert); daughter Janis (Brian) Samchuk; grandsons Ryan Braund (Dana), Jeremy Braund (Alanna Rudniski), Jay Samchuk (Jamie Grant), Trevor Samchuk (Jess) and Tyler Samchuk (Sandy); great-grandchildren Tyson, Carter, Alexis, Rachael, Billie, Jayla, Jace, Sophia, Nixon, Brooklyn, Mikhayla and Morgan, and by the many foster children she had over the years. She was predeceased by her husband Albert; one brother and six sisters. The Funeral Service took place at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 with Pastor Laurel Seyfert officiating. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery. The family would like to extend special thanks to the management and staff at Rideau Park Personal Care Home.
