Barbara Theresa Peterson
1933-2016
At the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 of
Barbara Theresa Peterson, Charlottetown, age 82 years. Beloved wife
of Dawson Peterson. Dear mother of Rosemary Gairns (Jim) of
Fredericton NB and Edwin (Lois) of Charlottetown PEI. Loving
grandmother of Chris Gairns (Jenn) of Fredericton NB, Michael Gairns
(Amie) of Fredericton NB, Justin d’Eon of Halifax NS and Rebecca
d’Eon of Toronto ON. Survived by brother Edwin Walsh and his
daughter Melanie and her family. Predeceased by her parents Jack and
Florence (McAvinn) Walsh. The majority of Barb’s education was
as a student at Notre Dame Academy, where over the years she helped to
organize many of its successful reunions. Her work ethic and her high
standards won her respect and admiration from her many employers over
the years including Producers Co-op, H.B. Willis Inc., Farmer, Dalzell
& Farmer, R.D. Manning and Ian Smith. Never one to miss a dance,
she and Dawson spent many Saturday nights at the Legion and afterwards
numerous friends would finish the party at “59”. The
family would like to honor the following individuals as Honorary
Pallbearers Jeanette Barlow, Gloria Ladner, Georgina Mulligan, Michael
O’Brien, Ian Smith and Ernie Brennan. Family and friends are
invited to join Barb’s family at the Belvedere Reception Centre
on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to celebrate Barb’s
life. Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation
of PEI.
