Mildred McPhee (MacPhee) 25 juillet 2016

Mildred (Millie) MacPhee September 3, 1927 – July 25, 2016 Peacefully on July 25, 2016, Millie passed away at Misericordia Place after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born the eldest of 12 children on September 3, 1927, in Cape Breton, N.S. she is survived by her five ‘boys’ Gerard (Nicole), Ron (Rolande), David (Debbie) Jim, John (Diana) and daughter Debbie (Chuck); grandchildren Corey, Nadine, Christophe, Eric, Nicholas, Rick, Jason, Sean, Stacy, Ryan, Heather and their spouses as well as 9 great-grandchildren, and her surviving siblings Gerald (Georgie) and sister Lee. She was predeceased by her parents, Maurice and Florence Edwards, nine siblings, husband Albert (Scotty) and daughter-in-law Michelle. As a devoted mother and grandmother Millie’s passions in life revolved around family and food. Any time she could combine the two, she was the happiest. A terrific cook and baker, we will always remember her legendary breakfasts and as well as her Christmas Eve feasts. Although the insidious fog of Alzheimer’s robbed her of many memories, the memories of her unconditional love, strength and determination will live on in the hearts of the lives she touched. The family would like to thank Linda and Don Stewart for their friendship to mom over the past 42 years, as well as the staff of Misericordia Place for their patience, care and compassion in tending to mom’s needs. Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held to celebrate mom’s life. While mom loved flowers, her memory and those of others would be better served by donations to The Alzheimer’s Society.
